Here at Carolinas Custom Kitchen & Bath Center, we want to help you create your ideal kitchen, and that starts with creating a great design. For best results, we encourage you to work with a trained designer, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t start brainstorming on your own. To help you get started, we’ll be going over three key principles of great kitchen design.
1. Consistency
One principle of great kitchen design is consistency, especially when it comes to your appliances. If your refrigerator, dishwasher, and oven don’t have the same finish, it will make your kitchen look sloppy–replacing them with models that all match will upgrade your overall look, and give you a bigger return on investment if you decide to sell your home in the future.
2. Logistics
Another thing that we at Carolinas Custom Kitchen & Bath Center encourage you to keep in mind when it comes to kitchen design is the logistics of how you’ll use the space. This means that you should think about where your various appliances will go and where your ingredients and gadgets will be stored, as well as how you’ll need to move through the space in order to get to everything. In particular, we recommend including plenty of outlets to power your small appliances (or just your phone) and building a spot for your trash can into your overall design.
3. Lighting
The third aspect of great kitchen design that we at Carolinas Custom Kitchen & Bath Center will be going over here is lighting. In our experience, the most effective lighting for kitchens includes three different types of lights: overhead for general illumination, spot for specific tasks, and accent to show off your design elements. If this sounds confusing, don’t worry–out team is here to help you make your new kitchen as bright and beautiful and possible.
